A new annual scholarship at
Troy High School is being created to honor Susan Keiser
Smith, (class of 1988) who lived a life of giving
service to others. A long-time advocate for food
security issues in New Albany and Columbus, Ohio, Susan
had a personal mission of working with organizations
that served the homeless and other at-risk populations
and worked tirelessly to end hunger and food waste in
the communities in which she lived.
Susan lived such a vibrant
life filled with celebration and joy; annual events are
currently being planned to ensure this scholarship can
remain endowed for future generations in her memory.

"While
sitting at the scholarship assembly and listening to the
description of who Susan Keiser-Smith was, as well as
her accomplishments and mission in life, I was in awe.
Then to have my name called I was honored." |

"I work
hard to keep myself where I want to be. I am also a very
passionate person about everything that I believe in and
do. When I get to Ohio University, I plan on doing
social work. I plan on doing social work because it is
something I genuinely care very much about. I want to
help children in the foster care system and never let
them feel alone. I am very empathetic and whatever I can
do to help, I will always do, for everyone." |
